Updated January 15, 2007 Attendance GarrisonCentral is by no means meant to be a primary linkshell. The only times that a member is required to have the GarrisonCentral linkpearl equipped are shortly before and during linkshell events, such as Garrisons, order farming parties, and other similar prearrangements. However, GarrisonCentral follows a consistent schedule of which every member is well aware. Therefore, barring any real-life conflict, the majority of active members are expected to be at each Garrison at the scheduled time if they have signed up on the website beforehand. Skipping a scheduled event to which you have commited yourself to do something with your primary linkshell, to gain experience, or to participate in some other unrelated adventure is behavior that will be frowned on. Officers do take attendance at each Garrison. GarrisonCentral has had issues in the past with people simply showing when they need to make quick money. Such members are ruining the experience for the rest of the linkshell and will hopefully be spotted and stopped before their behavior causes any unnecessary harm. Due to the fact that we can only have 18 people in a Garrison - the maximum size of an alliance - members are to sign up in the appropriate thread on this website in the Upcoming Events forum. Signing-up guarantees you a spot at the respective Garrison. If more than 18 people sign up for a particular event, they will be allowed to participate on a first-come-first-serve basis. Garrisons will start promptly at 8:00pm EST every Monday and Thursday unless otherwise posted on the site. If a particular alliance member is not in front of the outpost ready to participate by 8:15pm EST, their lotting privledges will be suspended for the first full round of which they stay the full duration. If this member has volunteered to trade an order for the evening, they will be placed at the bottom of the trading queue in the order in which they arrived. Assembling a large alliance takes a great deal of time, and these measures were added to encourage and reward punctuality. This is also the case when a new participant arrives to replace a departed member of the alliance, unless the first Garrison in which they participate is also the last of the evening. In this situation, they are subject to the same lotting rules as if they arrived on time. Because some jobs develop later than others, we politely ask that members refrain from attending Level 20 Garrisons as BRD's and SMN's. These jobs are more than welcome at Garrisons with higher level caps. To encourage regular attendance from most members, it is possible for a member to be considered "inactive" without being removed from the linkshell. Every three weeks, members that have not attended any Garrisons during the previous three-nation cycle will be moved to an "Inactive Members" section of the roster. To be removed from this part of the roster, the inactive member must attend one Garrison evening and subject themselves to the same rules as a standard recruit, i.e. they have lowest priority when trading orders, lower priority for becoming a member of the alliance, and must pass on all sellable items during the first round for which they stay the entire duration. Trading Battle Orders At the start of every Garrison evening, every applicable citizen who has brought the appropriate battle order will /random. The trading order will be decided from the results of those lots, with those who obtained higher lots trading before those with lower lots. Trading priority will be given to linkshell members and those seeking linkshell admission over those recruits only for that evening. An order trader must surrender any item they have obtained that evening for lotting before they can be allowed to trade. A single linkshell member is allowed to use multiple characters to trade multiple times in the course of a single week. However, for each battle order beyond the first, the trader will automatically be placed at the bottom of the trading queue. A large supply of orders is never a bad thing, unless it comes at the expense of certain people that have only one Garrison-ready character under their control. In the event that there is a shortage of battle orders, the alliance leader reserves the right to move the Garrison to a different outpost once the supply of orders for the evening is depleted. This second outpost must be controlled by the same nation as the original announced outpost, and must impose the same level cap. Lotting Procedures Garrison rewards are very valuable items, and as a result, the linkshell's lotting procedure is very strict in hopes of keeping things fair for all participants. At the conclusion of every Garrison, the lotting procedure is the same: - The order trader will choose an item from the treasure pool. - All other members of the alliance will pass on that chosen item. - The order trader will lot on their chosen item and obtain it. - All other members of the alliance who have not yet obtained an item will lot on all sellable items that remain. No member of the Garrison alliance will be allowed to leave with more than one item. Once enough items have dropped to compensate for each member of the alliance, any leftover sellable items that drop beyond those initial items will be sold, and the proceeds will be pooled for use as the reward pot for the next GarrisonCentral Ballista Royale (explained below). Leftover Rare/Ex items will be lotted upon freely. In the event that an alliance member accidentally obtains more than one item, they must give up the sellable item that obtained the lowest lot. That item will then be lotted upon by those alliance members that have not yet obtained anything. If one of the items that they obtained is Rare/Ex, they will have to give up the sellable item. Garrisons that are capped at Level 40 and Level 50 require the use of a small pool of Guardians which remain outside the alliance to distract monsters that may disrupt the event. To ensure that such volunteers are rewarded sufficiently, the sellable items - save for the item chosen by the order trader - will be collected by the officer and distributed via /random roll to all members in and out of the alliance. Unfortunately, Guardians are not eligible for Rare/Ex equipment pieces or experience scrolls. Regarding Experience Scrolls GarrisonCentral's original policy regarding Pages from the Dragon Chronicles and Miratete's Memoirs considered these as "big ticket" items alongside the various equipment pieces. Under the new rules, scrolls that give experience are no longer lottable, as is the case for mannequin parts. To prevent people from unfairly obtaining more than one scroll, they may not be used until the Garrison evening is complete. Scheduling Procedures In the past, GarrisonCentral has focused on giving each nation an even chance at hosting events. While this is generally the fairest way to schedule, unpredictable Conquest results often required the linkshell to repeat the same type of events over and over, forcing the rewards to depreciate in value and generally making the experience much less enjoyable. As a result, GarrisonCentral's current scheduling scheme focuses on giving each type of Garrison event even representation. We define a "rotation" as a six-week period in which three of each capped Garrison is completed. This length of time is used because, in theory, ideal Conquest results allow each nation to host one Garrison of each cap. Each six-week rotation uses the following structure:
Nations are chosen to host a Garrison using a least-recently used (LRU) heuristic. In brief, for any given cap, the nation that has gone the longest without hosting that particular cap will host the event as long as at least one eligible region is under their control. The priority using which hosting nations are chosen is a three-entry list displayed at the bottom of every sign-up thread. If possible, the nation at the top of the list will host the given Garrison. If the nation at the top of the list does not control any eligible regions, priority is given to the nation in the second entry on the list. In the event that neither the top nor second nation controls any eligible regions, priority is given to the nation at the bottom of the list. After hosting a Garrison event, the hosting nation is automatically dropped to the bottom of the priority list, regardless of their previous position of the list. The newly updated priority list will be displayed when the next sign-up thread is posted. In the unlikely event that all eligible nations are under Beastmen control, the linkshell will schedule a Garrison under the other cap that shares the same scheduling day. For example, if a Level 40 Garrison is impossible given the current Conquest results, a Level 50 Garrison will be scheduled in its place. Since it is possible for the same nation to be eligible to host both the lower- and higher-capped Garrisons of a different week, priority is generally given to the lower of the two events. The exception to this rule is if all eligible higher-capped regions are controlled by the nation in question, in which case priority is given to the higher of the two events. Despite having similar cap restrictions, the difficulty of Garrisons in the different regions varies significantly. There is a priority we use in situations where the same nation controls multiple regions, which is illustrated below: Level 20 Garrisons
There is only one region in which an uncapped Garrison may be held: Vollbow. If that region is under Beastmen control during the week in which it is scheduled, the next rotation will start immediately, and the uncapped Garrison will be scheduled the following week. Uncapped Garrisons An uncapped Garrison in Vollbow will be scheduled, ideally, every seven weeks between the conclusion and commencement of two six-week rotations. Due to the valuable nature of the rewards that can be obtained from this Garrison and the unpredictability of Conquest, the linkshell handles these events much differently from capped events. Uncapped Garrisons will always occur on Thursday evenings at the same time as standard events. On the Monday evening preceding an uncapped Garrison, a farming event will be scheduled. During this farming event, all members who wish to participate in the uncapped Garrison will farm for the required battle orders in Kuftal Tunnel. The battle orders will distributed to players in attendance who are citizens of the nation that currently controls Vollbow. Unlike capped events, there is no "first pick" bonus for trading a battle order to initiate a Garrison. At the same time, a member that is not in attendance for a farming run is ineligible for any monetary rewards during the Garrison itself unless they farm for a battle order on their own time and bring it to the Garrison. The minimum requirement for participating in a linkshell-sponsored uncapped Garrison is Level 65. Priority for inclusion in the main Garrison alliance is first decided by job (two support jobs and four damage-dealers per party), then by level (jobs at Level 75 have higher priority over lower-leveled jobs), and further by arrival time (members who arrive earlier have the highest priority). All other members who wish to participate act as Guardians. All sellable items that drop during an uncapped Garrison are collected by linkshell officers and sold. As items sell, the proceeds will be allotted to members who were attendance for the Garrison itself. A member's share is directly determined by the number of Garrison runs they have attended within the preceding rotation, relative to the attendance of other eligible members of the linkshell. This data is visualized in an often-updated entry found in the Expanded Roster in the GarrisonCentral section of these forums. In determining a player's share of uncapped rewards, runs in which they were not eligible for items due to lateness, recruit status, or inactive member status do not count towards their attendance total. As with the standard linkshell bank, all funds are stored on a character named Garrisoncentral, located in Jeuno. Uncapped Garrison sales are kept separate from standard linkshell funds used in events. Linkshell members will be able to obtain the money they have accumulated thusfar at predetermined intervals, usually preceding or following a scheduled event. Ballista Royale On a regular yet rare basis, the GarrisonCentral linkshell will suspend Garrison activities for one week to hold a special exclusive Ballista Royale in the Diorama Abdhaljs-Ghelsba. The Ballista Royale is open to all regular members of GarrisonCentral linkshell. This Ballista will be capped at Level 30 and occur at 9:00pm EST on either a Monday or Thursday evening. Participants must sign up beforehand in the Upcoming Events forum on this website. Unlike standard Garrisons, there is virtually no limit to the number of participants allowed in the evening's festivities. Participants are expected to assemble in Ru'Lude Gardens no later than 8:30pm EST. There will be two captains chosen, one for the Wyverns team and another for the Griffins team. The captain of one team will be the current shellholder. The captain of the second team will be one of the linkshell officers, as decided with a /random lot. Officers will take turns choosing members one at a time from the pool of participants until two equal teams have been formed. The Ballista period will be set as one two-hour all-or-nothing match. Subjobs are enabled, and outside items are allowed. At the conclusion of the match, the winner will be the team with the most points. All participants will receive a gil reward that is financed by the Ballista Royale pool, which accumulates via the proceeds of excess items won during a Garrison evening. Those on the winning team will receive a reward that is a reasonable percentage larger than that of the losing team. |
