Updated November 30, 2006 It is with great pleasure that I announce the formation of the MercenaryCentral linkshell. Following the success of the GarrisonCentral linkshell and continuing on with its spirit, the MercenaryCentral linkshell is the gateway for the players on Seraph server to engage in regular, repeated, and reliable Assault missions for the Aht Urghan empire. Mission Statement The purpose of this linkshell is to create and maintain a reliable and regular base of members for completing Assault missions, thereby enabling participants to make new friends, take advantage of one of Final Fantasy XI's most entertaining features, and share the profits of the many rewards one receives for completing the tasks at hand. Recruitment MercenaryCentral is open to all players on the Seraph server with at least one job above Level 50. The player must have the Treasures of Aht Urghan expansion pack installed and registered to access Assault content. It it highly, highly recommended that each player have access to all available Assault Staging Points. Members without the necessary Staging Points activated on a particular evening will not be allowed to participate. Attendance MercenaryCentral is by no means intended to be a primary linkshell. The only times that a member of MercenaryCentral is required to have their linkpearl equipped are shortly before and during linkshell events, such as Assault missions, Staging Point acquisitions, and other similar prearrangements. However, MercenaryCentral follows a consistent schedule of which every member is well aware. Therefore, barring any real-life conflict, the majority of active members are expected to be available in Aht Urghan Whitegate at the scheduled time if they have signed up on the website beforehand. Skipping a scheduled event to which you have committed yourself in the name of some other last-minute unrelated adventure will be frowned upon. In other words, do not sign up for an event unless you intend on making it your highest in-game priority that evening. To discourage last-minute sign-ups and make party formations easier, there is a deadline for signing up for an Assault event. If a linkshell member signs up after this deadline or comes to the event without having signed up, their participation in the scheduled runs cannot be guaranteed. The deadlines for signing up are Tuesday, 8:00 P.M. EST, for all Wednesday evening events; and Friday, 4:00 P.M. EST, for all Saturday afternoon events. If a member has not signed up before the posted deadline for a particular Assault event, then for the duration of the event, that member forfeits the right to lot on items found in the Ancient Lockbox, the right to lot on all low-value or Rare/Ex appraisals, the right to purchase valuable appraisals at a discount, and their respective share of any valuable appraisals sold by the linkshell. Officers do take attendance before each Assault mission. Regular attendance promotes the worth of the rewards you will receive. Linkshell members are allowed and encouraged to complete Assault missions with people outside the linkshell, but it is appreciated if each member in attendance on a particular evening has the allowed maximum of three (3) ID tags at their disposal so they may stay the duration of the evening. If a member attends an Assault event with fewer than the required three ID tags - or if they leave early and are unable to spend all three ID tags that they do bring - then for the duration of the next event for which they are able to participate in the full three scheduled runs, that member forfeits the right to lot on items found in the Ancient Lockbox, the right to lot on all low-value or Rare/Ex appraisals, the right to purchase valuable appraisals at a discount, and their respective share of any valuable appraisals sold by the linkshell. There is no hard cap to the number of linkshell members can be accommodated during a single evening. While there are internal limitations set by the developers, these will be solved quickly and easily as they are discovered. An evening's events will start promptly in Aht Urghan Whitegate unless otherwise noted on this website. Being "on time" and "prepared" is defined as "being in Aht Urghan Whitegate at the event's scheduled start time appropriately equipped as the requested job on the party roster." If, at the start of the event, a player is ill-equipped to being doing Assaults, then for the duration of the next event for which they are able to participate in the full three scheduled runs, that member forfeits the right to lot on items found in the Ancient Lockbox, the right to lot on all low-value or Rare/Ex appraisals, the right to purchase valuable appraisals at a discount, and their respective share of any valuable appraisals sold by the linkshell. If the first Assault run has not begun by the time the player is ready to begin, these penalties apply to the current Assault event. Party Formations Initial party rosters are formed based on the sign-ups that occur sufficiently before a scheduled event's start time. For this reason, it is extremely important that you post a sign-up and commit to attending and post a follow-up, if necessary, if you discover that you are unable to attend. To enter an Assault zone, one member of the party must pay 50 IS to obtain a Commander's Armband, which allows them to set the options for the Assault they have chosen. They are compensated in the form of 50 AP for the zone in which they are participating if the mission is a success. The holder of a Commander's Armband is determined by a party /random. The Commander's Armband cannot be picked up until the party has sufficiently discussed strategies for the current Assault and every party member is aware of their roles. This is to prevent parties from entering the Assault before the team is ready to attempt them. Saturday Assaults follow a regular rotation and, thus, are meant for farming AP. Party formations are structured in such a way to maximize the number of AP obtained while still guaranteeing a victory for all parties involved. These party formations will remain as static as possible. Party members will only be swapped out or rotated to compensate for people that do not have enough tags, who have to leave early, disconnect, ect. Wednesday Assaults are scheduled based on advancement need. To get as many people the clears as possible, dynamic parties are formed. As missions are successfully completed and requirements of individual members are fulfilled, parties will be rearranged to attempt the next tier of missions. This may result in certain linkshell members not using all three tags for these "official" attempts, but they are still welcome to attempt other missions that are more suitable for their setups. If necessary, the linkshell will attempt to /shout for recruits to fill any gaps in their party arrangements. Scheduled Assault Missions The standard event time for a MercenaryCentral event is 8:00pm EST in Aht Urghan Whitegate on Wednesday evenings, and 1:00pm EST on Saturday afternoons. The traditional meeting place for linkshell members is the Kokba Hostel, which will usually be open an hour before the scheduled event start time. The party makeup of a scheduled event will be posted ahead of time based on the available members that have signed up. For this reason, it is extremely important that members make an effort to post on the website beforehand to streamline the party creation process. Players with similar levels will be placed in the same parties so that appropriate level caps can be chosen as necessary. The leader of each party should be, whenever possible, an Officer of MercenaryCentral, but any regular member may assume this position and hold the Commander's Armband. New recruits (members that have not yet completed three Assault missions within the linkshell) cannot be party leaders. For the most part, an Assault evening will focus on one of the available staging points. If there is a supply of extra members that cannot be included in a suitable party setup either due to lack of members or job makeup, they will be allowed to participate in a more suitable Assault outside of the current zone. In all other circumstances, however, members should focus on the scheduled zone. The Staging Points used on a Wednesday evening will be decided by an Officer based on the advancement needs of members. Since the completion of certain unique Assaults will expedite the advancement of players, this Assault will be chosen as to fulfill the needs of as many members as possible. The Staging Points used on a Saturday afternoon will follow a regular rotation. As the developers add new Staging Points and Assault missions, these will be added to the regular rotation. The current rotation is as follows: - Leujaoam Sanctum (Azouph Isle) - Lebros Cavern (Halvung) - Mamool Ja Training Grounds (Mamool Ja) - Ilrusi Atoll (Ilrusi Atoll) - Periqia (Dvucca Isle) The events that are scheduled will always be posted in the Upcoming Events forum on this website. Item Distribution All Rare/Ex items that drop during the course of an Assault mission are eligible for free lot by the members of the party that obtain it. The member holding the Commander's Armband must make a note of every item that drops and who obtains it. In the case of sellable/tradable items, including those that are appraised, any item worth less than 100,000 gil is eligible for free lot by the members of the party that obtain it. All other items must be submitted to the linkshell bank. As mentioned above, the items found in the Ancient Lockbox are rewards for members that have responsibly committed to the event. As such, to be eligible to lot on Ancient Lockbox items, low-value appraisals, and Rare/Ex appraisals, the member must have signed up for the event before the posted deadline, been on time for the event and prepared to begin at the scheduled start time, and brought the full three Imperial Army ID Tags. These restrictions apply to buying valuable items at a discount or being eligible for a share of a large sale, as explained in detail below. The Mercenary Bank Mercenarybank is a character located in Aht Urghan Whitegate that handles all linkshell-related transactions. All sellable items must be submitted to her at the conclusion of an Assault mission for further handling. In the case of valuable items that can be sold, the offer to purchase them is offered first to the party that found it during the course of the mission. Any member of the party may purchase it from the linkshell following a 25% discount in the price (i.e. sold at 75% of value) recorded by the most recent Auction House transactions. If nobody from the initial party wishes to purchase the item, the purchase offer is then handed to the other linkshell members in attendance for the completed mission. The same discount is offered. If nobody in attendance wishes to purchase the item at a discounted price, Mercenarybank will sell the item on the Auction House. Regardless of whether or not the item is sold on auction or to a linkshell member, the proceeds from the sale will be evenly divided up among all members in attendance for that particular mission. A record of their share will be kept on this website. Linkshell members may "withdraw" their accumulated funds at the start of any Assault evening. Withdrawals at any other time or through the Delivery Box are not allowed. Note that the 25% discount is meant to benefit linkshell members that intend on using the item, not for those looking for a quick profit. Please be respectful of this when choosing to purchase an item. If this policy begins to cause trouble in the future, it will be changed accordingly. The primary rewards of any Assault mission are the Assault Points that can be used to purchase special equipment. Any other items that are obtained during a mission are secondary. For that reason, this policy will hopefully encourage optimal attendance. "Everybody comes, everybody wins." Linkshell members that violate the distribution rules - secretly hoarding items, stealing items from other members, submitting false records, etc. - will have their character names posted on a public blacklist, and they will be discharged from the linkshell. |
